Security has a marketing problem. Coaching centres sell "ethical hacking" courses to first year students with pictures of terminals. The actual industry in India is mostly service companies doing steady defensive work for overseas clients, and the entry roles reflect that.

The roles

SOC analyst (L1/L2). Security operations centre. You watch alerts from monitoring tools, decide which are real, and escalate. It is shift work, often including nights. It is the most common entry point for freshers in India, and it is a genuine one — you see more real incidents in six months than most people see in years.
