Accenture India
A global professional services and technology consulting firm with a very large India delivery workforce. Hires engineering graduates in volume into software engineering, application development, cloud, data and security work for enterprise clients.
Cut-offs and test patterns change every hiring cycle. Treat this page as orientation and confirm the current cycle on their own careers site and with your placement cell.
1Accenture eligibility criteria
Who can generally apply
- Accenture hires freshers both through campus placements and through advertised off-campus drives.
- Requirements are set per posting and per drive rather than through one permanent public criteria page.
- Accenture India publicly lists the career areas it hires into, which for engineering graduates include software engineering, technology platforms, cloud, AI and data science, security, and engineering and manufacturing.
What you must confirm yourself
- Eligible passing years, degree lists, marks criteria and backlog rules are set per drive and are not published as a fixed standard.
- Read the specific job posting or the campus drive notice you are applying through.
- Accenture publicly warns that no one is ever required to pay for employment there. Treat any request for payment as fraud.
2Accenture selection process
Stages, as Accenture describes them
- Application confirmation, an acknowledgement email once you apply
- Application review by recruiters, who may also consider you for other roles
- Outreach to selected candidates to schedule interviews
- Interviews, conducted by phone, video or in person, with the number of rounds varying by role
- Skill assessment for some roles, an online activity to evaluate technical skills
- Offer
About the skill assessment
Accenture publicly describes its technical assessments as typically running between roughly thirty and ninety minutes, to be completed within a set window after being sent, taken in an online coding environment on a laptop or desktop, and scored automatically against predefined criteria with a pass threshold. Accenture also states that external AI tools are not permitted during the assessment, while any AI assistant built into the assessment environment itself may be used.
What candidates commonly report for India fresher drives
Candidates commonly report a cognitive and technical assessment covering aptitude, reasoning and English, a separate communication assessment, and then a technical interview followed by an HR interview. This is a consistent candidate description but is not a published Accenture specification, and the format has changed between cycles.
Round counts vary by role. Accenture says so itself. Do not plan around a number.
3Accenture syllabus: what to study
Quantitative ability
- Percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, ages
- Profit and loss, interest
- Time and work, time speed and distance
- Number system, series, progressions
- Permutations, combinations, probability
- Data interpretation from charts and tables
Reasoning
- Seating arrangements and puzzles
- Coding and decoding, analogies, classification
- Blood relations, direction sense
- Syllogisms and logical deduction
- Data sufficiency
- Abstract and pattern reasoning
English and communication
- Reading comprehension
- Grammar, error spotting, sentence correction
- Vocabulary in context
- Spoken English clarity, pace and pronunciation, since a communication assessment is commonly reported and consulting work is client-facing
Technical fundamentals
- One programming language you are fluent in
- Arrays, strings, dictionaries and sets
- Linked lists, stacks, queues
- Sorting, searching, recursion
- Basic complexity reasoning
- Pseudocode reading and output prediction
- Object-oriented programming concepts
Applied and platform knowledge
- SQL: select, joins, group by, aggregate functions, subqueries. Worth genuine study, as data work is a large part of Accenture delivery.
- DBMS concepts: keys, normalisation, transactions
- Operating systems and networking basics
- Cloud fundamentals at a conceptual level: what IaaS, PaaS and SaaS mean, what a virtual machine and a container are, why deployments move to the cloud
- Basic web fundamentals: HTTP request and response, client versus server, what an API is
Behavioural material
- Two or three worked examples of teamwork, conflict, failure and initiative, told as situation, action, result
4How to prepare for Accenture
If you have one to three years
- Invest in spoken English early. Accenture is a consulting firm and much of the India workforce is client-facing. Communication carries more weight here than at a pure back-end shop, and it is the slowest thing to improve, so start first.
- Build the aptitude and reasoning habit through second and third year.
- Learn SQL properly rather than superficially. It appears in assessments, in interviews and then in the actual job.
- Get comfortable with one language and with writing complete programs in a plain browser-based editor under a timer.
- Learn cloud vocabulary conceptually. You do not need a certification in your second year, but being able to explain what a container is puts you ahead of most fresher candidates.
- Prepare behavioural answers as structured stories. Consulting interviews probe these harder than pure product interviews do.
- Watch official Accenture channels for drive announcements rather than relying on aggregator sites, which frequently reprint stale criteria.
The honest caveat
Accenture publishes its process shape and its assessment mechanics, but not a fixed fresher syllabus, a fixed round count or fixed eligibility numbers. The subject areas above are safe to study. Anything numeric must be read from the live posting.
Practise for it
The rounds above are only worth knowing if you sit them once before the real thing.
