1Wipro eligibility criteria

Who can generally apply

  • The Elite National Talent Hunt is aimed at full-time engineering graduates from a named graduating batch, with certain branches excluded in some cycles.
  • Published cycles of the programme have listed requirements covering minimum marks across class 10, class 12 and graduation, a limit on active backlogs at the time of the assessment, a cap on education gaps, and Indian citizenship or PIO / OCI status.

What you must confirm yourself

  • The specific numbers in those requirements change between cycles, and the branch exclusion list changes too. The figures published for one batch are not a promise for the next.
  • Wipro's own Elite landing page is the place to start, and it links out to the live registration for the current cycle. Read the criteria published there for your own graduation year rather than relying on any figure quoted elsewhere, including here.

2Wipro selection process

Stages

The Elite National Talent Hunt has been published with a simple and unusually stable four-step shape:

  • Registration for the nationwide drive
  • Online assessment, described as testing verbal, analytical and quantitative skills plus written communication, followed by a coding portion
  • Business discussion, an interview round covering technical depth and fit
  • Offer letter

Caveats

  • The assessment duration and the exact section split have been published differently in different cycles. Do not memorise a timing.
  • The business discussion is a single named round in the published flow, but candidates report varying experiences within it, from a light technical conversation to a substantial one depending on the panel and the role.
  • Wipro also runs other fresher intake routes outside Elite. Those have their own criteria and are not described here.

3Wipro syllabus: what to study

Quantitative and analytical

  • Number system, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages
  • Profit and loss, simple and compound interest
  • Time and work, time speed and distance
  • Permutations, combinations, probability
  • Series, sequences and progressions
  • Data interpretation from tables and charts
  • Mensuration and geometry basics

Logical reasoning

  • Coding and decoding, analogies, classification
  • Seating arrangements, puzzles, ordering
  • Blood relations and direction sense
  • Syllogisms and logical deduction
  • Data sufficiency
  • Visual and pattern reasoning

Verbal ability

  • Reading comprehension
  • Grammar and error identification
  • Sentence completion and correction
  • Para jumbles, vocabulary in context

Written communication

Wipro's published assessment description explicitly includes written communication, which is worth taking seriously because it is unusual among mass recruiters.

  • Writing a short structured essay or passage on a general topic under time pressure
  • Clear paragraph structure, an actual argument, correct grammar and spelling
  • Practise typing, not handwriting. It is typed under a timer.

Coding

  • One language you are fluent in: C, C++, Java or Python
  • Arrays, strings and string manipulation
  • Loops, conditionals, functions, recursion
  • Linked lists, stacks, queues, hash maps
  • Sorting and searching
  • Reading from standard input and matching the exact expected output format
  • Basic complexity reasoning

Core computer science, for the business discussion

  • Object-oriented programming concepts
  • DBMS fundamentals and SQL queries
  • Operating systems and networking basics
  • Your projects and internships, in specific technical detail

4How to prepare for Wipro

If you have one to three years

  • Practise timed written English. Most candidates prepare aptitude and coding and neglect the written communication piece, even though Wipro names it in its own assessment description. A weekly timed 200-word essay for a few months is enough to be comfortable.
  • Build the aptitude habit through second and third year rather than in the final semester.
  • Get fluent in one language and practise writing complete, compiling programs in a plain editor.
  • Practise reading input and producing exact output, since the coding portion is machine-scored.
  • Prepare your projects to interview depth. The business discussion is a single round, which means it carries a lot of weight; a thin project answer is expensive there.
  • Watch the registration window. Elite runs as a nationwide cycle for a batch, and if you miss the window there may not be a second chance that year.

The honest caveat

The four-step process shape and the subject areas are the durable parts. The marks criteria, branch eligibility list, assessment duration and section split all vary by cycle and must be read from Wipro's official Elite page for your own batch.

Practise for it

The rounds above are only worth knowing if you sit them once before the real thing.
