Cut-offs and test patterns change every hiring cycle. Treat this page as orientation and confirm the current cycle on their own careers site and with your placement cell.

1Capgemini eligibility criteria

Who can generally apply

  • Capgemini India describes Exceller as its flagship programme for technical graduates, built around engagement with engineering institutes and graduate colleges across the country.
  • Capgemini states plainly on its own technical graduates page that to be part of its hiring process you should get in touch with your college placement team. Campus placement is the primary channel, which matters if you are choosing where to focus your effort.
  • Off-campus and direct applications through the Capgemini job search portal also exist for some roles.

What you must confirm yourself

  • Capgemini does not publish a permanent public eligibility standard for freshers. Marks criteria, eligible branches, backlog rules and passing years are set per drive.
  • Your placement cell will usually have the actual criteria document for your campus drive. That document, not a prep site, is the authority.

2Capgemini selection process

Stages, as Capgemini describes them

Capgemini publicly describes a four-step recruitment process:

  • Application, submitted through the job search portal with your details and CV
  • Screening and position mapping, where the team assesses how your skills align with open positions
  • Interview process, which Capgemini describes as including an HR screening call by video or phone, proctored assessments for technical and language skills where applicable, one or two technical interviews in person or by video, an HR behavioural interview, document submission, and a compensation discussion
  • Onboarding and placement, including background verification

Note the phrasing Capgemini itself uses: one or two technical interviews, and assessments where applicable. The company is explicitly telling you this is not a fixed pipeline.

What candidates commonly report

Candidates commonly report an online test covering aptitude, logical reasoning, English including a written or essay component, and pseudocode, with a separate coding round for the stronger tracks. Some cycles are also reported to use game-based or adaptive aptitude formats. These are candidate reports and aggregator descriptions, not a Capgemini-published pattern, and the format has genuinely varied between years. Do not memorise one.

3Capgemini syllabus: what to study

Quantitative aptitude

  • Percentages, ratio and proportion, averages
  • Profit and loss, simple and compound interest
  • Time and work, time speed and distance
  • Number system, series, progressions
  • Permutations, combinations, probability
  • Data interpretation from tables and charts

Logical reasoning

  • Seating arrangements, puzzles, ordering
  • Series, analogies, classification
  • Coding and decoding
  • Syllogisms and logical deduction
  • Data sufficiency
  • Abstract, visual and pattern reasoning, since adaptive and game-based formats lean on this

English and written communication

Capgemini names language skills as an assessed area in its own process description, so this is worth real preparation.

  • Reading comprehension
  • Grammar, error spotting, sentence correction
  • Para jumbles and sentence completion
  • Writing a short structured essay or email under time pressure, typed
  • Spoken clarity for the HR and behavioural rounds

Pseudocode and programming

  • Reading C-style pseudocode and predicting output
  • Tracing loops, conditionals, recursion and array indexing on paper
  • One language you are fluent in: C, C++, Java or Python
  • Arrays, strings, linked lists, stacks, queues, hash maps
  • Sorting, searching, recursion
  • Basic complexity reasoning

Core computer science

  • Object-oriented programming concepts with examples
  • DBMS and SQL: joins, group by, subqueries, keys, normalisation
  • Operating systems: processes, threads, scheduling, memory
  • Computer networks basics
  • Cloud and delivery vocabulary at a conceptual level
  • Your projects, in specific technical detail

Behavioural

  • Prepared examples for the HR behavioural interview, which Capgemini names explicitly as a stage: teamwork, handling failure, taking initiative, resolving disagreement

4How to prepare for Capgemini

If you have one to three years

  • Find out early whether Capgemini visits your campus. Capgemini itself points candidates to their college placement team, so your placement cell is a more reliable channel here than off-campus hunting.
  • Practise typed written English on a timer. The essay or written component is where prepared candidates gain easy separation from unprepared ones.
  • Learn to trace pseudocode on paper. Practise by predicting output before running code, every time.
  • Keep a steady aptitude and reasoning habit from second year. Abstract and pattern reasoning deserve specific practice because adaptive formats lean on them.
  • Get fluent in one language, and be able to write a complete working program in a plain editor.
  • Learn SQL and DBMS properly; it comes up in both interviews and the job.
  • Write out behavioural stories in advance. Capgemini names a behavioural HR interview as an explicit stage, so this is a scored round, not small talk.

The honest caveat

Capgemini publishes its process shape and names its assessed areas, and it hedges its own description with "one or two" and "where applicable". It does not publish a test pattern, a section list or eligibility numbers. The subject areas above are stable. Everything else comes from your placement cell's drive document for your own year.

Practise for it

The rounds above are only worth knowing if you sit them once before the real thing.
